The absolute most important thing you should know about me is that I am a follower of the One True God and do my best to follow him in everything I do. The day is coming soon when he will send his son, Jesus, back to make the whole world new and to judge the living and the dead. I pray that anyone reading this has a personal relationship with Him, or will have the courage to seek him out. Other than that, I am a huge nerd, specifically regarding Lord of the Rings. I read through the Lord of the Rings at least every couple of years, and try to watch the movies just as frequently. One of my favorite nic-names is Strider, given to me by the group of guys with whom I learned to ride my motorcycle, mainly because I have long hair with a beard and I smoke a pipe. In high school, I taught myself to read and write the dwarven runes that Tolkien used for the dwarves map in the Hobbit.
I DM for a group of guys playing through a campaign set in my own Dungeons and Dragons homebrew world. Table top games are a prefered pasttime, favorites include board games like Talisman and Raiders of the North Seas, along with just about any card game you can name. I always try to be reading at least one or two books at a time, usually splitting my time between a “learning” book for my pastoral internship or a “fun” book like a fantasy novel. Favorite books and series include Lord of the Rings (obviously), Chronicles of Narnia, The Codex Alera, The Mark of the Lion, and The Sword of Truth.
A lot of my time is spent working on the small farm my wife and I own, which we named The Southfarthing after the southern region of the Shire in Middle Earth. We have a fairly large flock of chickens, plans to start breeding meat rabbits, and quite a few vegatables we are growing to sell in our mobile farmstand. We are also working to set up camping spots for small campers, tents, and hammocks in the field next to our pond.
